My culinary trip around the world: Barcelona
by hannahb21
To get you in the summer mood, I would suggest that you read this blog post whilst listening to this.
It’s a horrible, cold, wet and grey evening in May (!) and I cannot help but think back to a wonderful long weekend I had in Barcelona back in March 2012 with my dear friend, and fellow foodie, Laura. We had booked a weekend away purely to use up our last few holiday days. We found a cheap hotel/flight package on travel republic and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was not only a real 4* (not to be confused with mainland Europe 4*) Hotel but that we could walk to the beach and city centre whilst having a room with a view of the Sagragada Familia.
We didn’t go to Barcelona just for the hotel oh no, we went for blue skies, spring breezes, culture and most importantly amazing Catalonian cuisine. A friend of a friend, and ex-Barca resident, gave us a list of places to try and we definitely tried them all…plus more!
It’s fair to say we not only walked away around this beautiful city, but we also ate our way through it and in doing so we found the true spirit of Barcelona: it’s a place where you live to eat, not eat to live.
I had initially made a video in the style of late 90s tv show Holiday, but unfortunately I kept hitting a wall when it came to converting the file, so instead I’ll leave you with a series of photos to sum up our foodie adventure.
